A moderate earthquake occurred at 08:39 PM PDT on Wednesday evening, June 25, 2003. This epicenter was located far of the northern coast about 110 miles W of Petrolia. The local magnitude for this event is 4.1 (ML). The moment magnitude determined at Berkeley for this earthquake is 4.6 (Mw).

A mild earthquake stirred the region about 4 miles NW of Redding at 06:34 AM PDT on Monday morning, June 23, 2003. The local magnitude for this earthquake is 3.1 (ML).

A mild earthquake occurred at 02:32 PM PDT on Friday afternoon, June 20, 2003. This epicenter was located about 24 miles E of Willits, CA. The local magnitude for this earthquake is 3.3 (ML).

19 June 2003, 23:19 PDT

A major earthquake occurred at 11:19 PM PDT on Thursday night, June 19, 2003. This epicenter was located about 4300 miles ESE of Berkeley in the region of Amazonas, Brazil. The earthquake's focus was quite deep at about 555 km, or about 345 miles beneith the surface of the earth. The body wave magnitude for the event, averaged over the Berkeley Network, is 6.4 (mb). The U.S. Geological Survey's National Earthquake Information Center determined a moment magnitude of 7.0 (Mw) for the earthquake. Because of the depth, and sparse population in this part of Brazil, damage is expected to be minimal. More information is available from the USGS NEIC.
