June 2005 Commentary
- 26 June, 11:45 PDT
A moderate earthquake was recorded in the Lake Tahoe vicinity today,
7 km NNW of Tahoe Vista, CA. The Mw 4.8 event produced a peak of MM 5
on both the
instrumental
intensity and the Community Internet Intensity map.
- 14 June, 19:50 PDT
A major earthquake occurred at 07:50 PM. This epicenter was located
off the coast about 105 miles WSW of Crescent City, CA. The moment magnitude
for this event, determined at Harvard, is Mw=7.2. A report on this earthquake

Although no damage was reported from the earthquake, it was widely felt in Northern
California (Maximum instrumental M.M. Intensity of III). A tsunami warning was issued for this
earthquake by the West Coast and Alaska
Warning Center.
Numerous aftershocks have been recorded, including an M6.7 on
June 17th.

A mild earthquake occurred at 06:33 AM. This epicenter was located
about 8 miles SW of Paso Robles, CA. The magnitude for this event
is 3.5.
Maximum instrumental M.M. Intensity of IV.
- 4 June, 16:52 PDT
A mild earthquake occurred at 04:52 PM. This epicenter was located
about 9 miles NE of Coalinga, CA. The magnitude for this event
is 3.6.
Maximum instrumental M.M. Intensity of II.
- 2 June, 07:18 PDT
A mild earthquake occurred at 07:18 AM. This epicenter was located
about 6 miles ENE of San Simeon, CA. The local magnitude for this event
is 3.5.
Maximum instrumental M.M. Intensity of II.
