A great earthquake occurred at 04:10 am (PDT) This event was located about 8,900 miles WNW of Berkeley in Southern Sumatra, Indonesia about 80 miles SW of Bengkulu, Sumatra, Indonesia. br> The moment magnitude for this earthquake is 8.4. At least 25 people were killed, 161 injured and 52,522 buildings and roads damagedor destroyed in Bengkulu and Sumatera Barat. A tsunami wave height of 90 cm was measured at Padang.
