miles NW of Berkeley in the Andreanof Islands, Alaska, about 124 miles W of Adak,
AK. The moment magnitude for this earthquake is 7.2.

A light earthquake which occurred at 12:17 pm (PST).
A major earthquake occurred at 11:28 pm (PST). This event was located about 5,700
miles SW of Berkeley in the Region South of Fiji Islands, about 220 miles N of Rao
ul Island, Kermadec Islands. The moment magnitude for this earthquake i 7.8. The m
aximum modified Mercalli Intensity for the earthquake was (IV) at
Nuku`alofa. It was also felt at Mu`a, Neiafu, Pangai and Vaini, Tonga; and at Alof
i, Niue. Farther away it was felt throughout the North Island of New Zealand and,
specifically, at Lower Hutt, Napier, Wellington and Whakatane.
