A major earthquake occurred at 11:17 PM (PDT). The earthquake was located in the South Sandwich Islands Region. The moment magnitude for this event, determined by the U.S. Geological Survey, is 7.0. USGS NEIC information.

A light earthquake occurred at 07:44AM (PDT). This event was located about 9 miles ESE of Mammoth Lakes, CA. The moment magnitude for the event, determined at Berkeley, is 3.9. 17 June 2008

A minor earthquake occurred at 04:57 PM (PDT). This event was located about 8 miles S of Tres Pinos and 13 miles SSE of Hollister, CA. 13 June 2008

A large earthquake occurred at 04:43 PM (PDT). The earthquake was located in eastern Honshu, Japan, about 50 miles SE of Akita and 60 miles NNW of Sendai. The moment magnitude for this event, determined by the U.S. Geological Survey, is 6.9. USGS NEIC information. At least 12 people were killed, 302 injured, 385 buildings damaged and landslides occurred in the Furukawa-Kurihara-Morioka area.

13 June 2008

A light earthquake occurred at 11:31 AM. It was located in Nevada about 55 miles E of Suzanville, CA, and 62 miles N of Reno, NV. The moment magnitude for the event, determined at Berkeley, is 3.9.

8 June 2008

A pair of light earthquakes occurred about 5 miles WNW of Reno, NV. The first occurred at 12:53 PM with a moment magnitude, determined at Berkeley, of 3.7; the second occurred at 12:55 PM and has a moment magnitude of 4.0.

6 June 2008

A minor earthquake occurred at 02:02 AM (PDT). This event was located about 3 miles SW of Alamo, CA. The moment magnitude, determined at Berkeley, is 3.5.
