28 October 2008

A large earthquake occurred at 04:09 PM (PDT). This event was located in Pakistan, about 35 miles NE of Quetta. The moment magnitude for this event, determined by the U.S. Geological Survey, is 6.4. USGS NEIC information. One hundred sixty-six people killed, 370 injured and several villages destroyed in Balochistan. Several villages destroyed by landslides in the Ziarat area. A total of 3,487 homes destroyed and an additional 4,125 homes damaged in the Harnai area, Pishin and Ziarat. Felt (VI) at Quetta. Felt strongly in Bolan, Kalat and Qila Saifullah; and at Loralai, Mach, Mastung, Muslimbagh, and Surab.

A light earthquake occurred at 09:07 AM (PDT). This event was located off the coast about 9 miles NNW of Trinidad and 27 miles N of Eureka, CA. The moment magnitude for this event, determined at Berkeley, is 3.9. The maximum modified Mercalli intensity was IV. Shake Map of instrument intensities measured for this event, is available.

A light earthquake occurred at 02:27 AM (PDT). This event was located off the coast about 18 miles W of Petrolia, CA. The moment magnitude for this event, determined at Berkeley, is 4.9. A minor earthquake occurred at 02:26 AM (PDT). This event was located off the coast about 17 miles W of Petrolia, CA. The local magnitude for this event is 3.8.

A minor earthquake occurred at 03:45 PM (PDT). This event was located off the coast about 64 miles W of Petrolia, CA. The local magnitude for this event is 3.6.

6 October 2008

A large earthquake occurred at 01:30 AM (PDT). This event was located in Eastern Xizang Province, China, about 45 miles WNW of Lasa, Xizang. The moment magnitude for this event, determined by the U.S. Geological Survey, is 6.4. USGS NEIC information. Nine people killed and at least 19 injured. Many houses in Damxung collapsed. Felt (IV) at Lhasa.

5 October 2008

A large earthquake occurred at 08:52 AM (PDT). This event was located in Kyrgyzstan, about 30 miles NNE of Karakul, Tajikistan, and 35 miles ESE of. Sary-Tash, Kyrgyzstan. The moment magnitude for this event, determined by the U.S. Geological Survey, is 6.6. USGS NEIC information. At least 74 people killed, 140 injured and dozens of buildings destroyed at Nura. Some buildings damaged in Wuqia Xian, China.

A minor earthquake occurred at 06:58 AM (PDT). This event was located off the coast about 121 miles W of Petrolia, CA. The local magnitude for this event is 3.8.
