A light earthquake occurred at 06:03 AM (PST). This event was located off the coast about 130 miles W of Petrolia, CA. The moment magnitude for this event, determined at Berkeley, is 5.9.

24 November 2008

A major earthquake occurred at 01:02 AM (PST). This event was located under the Sea of Okhotsk, about 195 miles WNW of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, Russia. The moment magnitude for this event, determined by the U.S. Geological Survey, is 7.3. USGS NEIC information. The earthquake was over 300 miles deep. It was felt in Petropavlovsk.

A minor earthquake occurred at 06:44 AM (PST). This event was located about 6 miles SSE of Parkfield, CA. The local magnitude for this event is 3.5.

6 16 November 2008

A major earthquake occurred at 09:02 AM (PST). This event was located in Minahassa, Sulawesi, Indonesia, about 85 miles NW of Gorontalo. The moment magnitude for this event, determined by the U.S. Geological Survey, is 7.3. USGS NEIC information. At least six people killed, 77 injured, 10,000 people displaced, 1,000 buildings damaged and communications disrupted in the Buol area and in Gorontalo. Felt (VII) at Baolan; (VI) at Gorontalo and Tolitoli; (IV) at Manado and Poso; (III) at Luwuk. Also felt (IV) at Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei and (II) at Darwin, Australia. Felt at Kolaka, Kuta, Makasar, Palu and Ujung Bulu, Indonesia; Kunak and Sandakan, Malaysia; General Santos and Koronadal, Philippines.
