On May 11, 1998, the Indian government detonated a nuclear explosion. Two days later, they conducted additional tests and in a press conference on May 17th, annouced that they had conducted a total of 5 tests with varying yields. These were the first announced tests since the May 18, 1974 test.
In response to the Indian explosions, Pakistan detonated 6 nuclear explosions on May 28 and 30, 1998. The material below describes seismological aspects of these nuclear tests, including information on the differences between explosions and earthquakes.
