BSL Visitors
Current BSL Visitors:
Dr. Joshi Karra (Catherine)
Lei Ling
Previous BSL Visitors:
-
Caroline Eakin is an undergraduate visitor from Imperial College London. She is here for the year, until mid-June 2009, and she is working with Richard Allen on a Mendocino Triple Junction area shear wave splitting study.
-
Liang Zhao is an Assoc. Prof. of Geophysics at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. From February through July 2009, he worked with Richard Allen's group, using data from dense crossing seismic lines to study the Eastern China Craton.
Summer 2009:
Yann Capdeville was a visitor for the summer from IPGP. While at the BSL, he worked with Paul
Cupillard and Barbara Romanowicz on noise correlation issues, spectral elements and the
adjoint problem.
-
Adeline Souf was a visiting undergraduate intern from France during the month of July 2009. She worked on the ElarmS project with Richard Allen's group completing a study of the distribution of delays across California's seismic networks.
-
Abhishek Mandal is a summer visitor from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, Department of Geology and Geophysics, where he is in his final year of study. He is working with Doug Dreger on determining a finite source model for small earthquakes on the Parkfield segment of the San Andreas fault, and he will be here through July 17th.
08/09:
Michael Slawinski is a professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at Memorial University in Newfoundland, Canada. He was a visitor at the BSL from late fall of 2008 through January 2009, working with Barbara Romanowicz.
Summer 2008:
Shweta Sangewar is a 3rd year student of the Department of Geology and Geophysics, Indian institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India enrolled in a 5 year integrated M.Sc. programme in Exploration Geophysics. As a part of the part of the UC Berkeley - IIT Kharagpur collaboration program, she will be working for 8 weeks as a summer intern under Doug Dreger, focusing on seismic moment tensor solutions for earthquakes in areas of India which have experienced a seismic event of magnitude 6-8.
Junkee Rhie is also back for three weeks starting July 8th, working with Doug Dreger.
Kate Chen is back for a short post-doc appointment researching the topic: "How do the repeating earthquakes at Parkfield talk to each other?" She will be working with Roland Burgmann and Robert Nadeau until September 14, when she will leave for a faculty position at National Taiwan Normal University.
Fabian Walter is a Ph. D. student in glaciology who is in his final year at ETH Zurich. His project involves applying Doug Dreger's moment tensor inversion package to icequakes near the glacier bed of Gornergletscher, a Swiss mountain glacier. He will be here until September.
