BBEB is one of the bridge sites of the
Northern Hayward
Fault Network. The borehole is located on Yerba Buena
Island, near the
San
Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge.
This site is operated under
the auspices of Caltrans
and the City of San Francisco.
YBIB has been offline since August 24, 2000, when renovation on the island cut power cables. We hope to restore this station in the future.

- This section summarizes major changes in equipment or in instrumentation at YBIB.
- 08/24/2000: Power failed at YBIB. The station is down until a solution can be found.
- 04/11/2000: Antenna and cable installed for telemetry to MOLA (part of BARD network).
- 11/04/1999: Q4120 upgraded with MSHEAR software.
- 09/03/1999: Replaced Freewave radio with Cylink radio.
- 04/28/1999: Replaced disk in Q4120.
- 07/01/1998: All equipment repaired and reinstalled.
- 02/08/1998: Lightning strike caused instrumentation problems; datalogger removed and sent to Quanterra for repair. This caused a failure in the vertical component of the geophone.
- 01/09/1998: GPS clock antenna reinstalled to fix clock problem.
- 11/26/1996: Q4120 datalogger reinstalled after replacement of 10 amp fuse.
- 06/28/1996: Station instrumentation installed.
