Hi, my name is Amanda Thomas, I am a second year PhD candidate at the University of California, Berkeley in the Department of Earth and Planetary Science. I am a member of the Active Tectonics research group, which is a part of the Berkeley Seismological Laboratory in the Department of Earth and Planetary Science.
My research involves a combination of knowledge and techniques from the fields of seismology, geomorphology, structural geology, and geophysics to better understand the deformation of earth's surface. More specifically I am interested in the mechanics of earthquakes and faulting, the structure of the continental lithosphere, and the spatiotemporal evolution of seismicity throughout the earthquake cycle.
My photographic arsenal includes a Nikon D200 digital body, 18-135mm f/3.5-4.5, 70-200mm f/2.8, 60mm f/2.8 macro, 50mm f/1.8, SB-800 speedlight, and micellaneous other accesories priced at least an order of magnitude less than the aforementioned.
