Aso volcano, Japan 2020
The 2nd international winter school for aquaplanetology hosted by the Earth Life Science Institute (ELSI) was held at Aso volcano, near Kumamoto, Japan. Mount Aso sits inside a large caldera, with the last large eruption ejecting more than 600 cubic kilometers of magma, 91 thousand years ago.
