The 6th EGU Galileo conference, "Perturbations of earth surface dynamics caused by extreme events" was held in Nepal during October 2019. Events such as large earthquakes, heavy rains, volcanic eruptions, landslides, and outburst floods can modify processes at Earth's surface and can produce cascading hazards. The organizers produced a stimulating program with insightful discussions and led eye-opening field trips.
The conference was largely open-air (talks in the background, dining in the foreground, and a tent in the distance).
A very large (gneiss) boulder. How was it transported? A large flood? It has been sitting there for 13.3 thousand years.
