1) By BART:
Take the Pittsburg/Bay Point line and transfer at 12th Str./Oakland City Center to the Richmond line. Exit at the Berkeley station, by the central escalator.
A geomorpholoigist-driven van/suv convoy that goes directly to LHS will leave the Berkeley BART station area at about 7:42, 8:02, 8:22, and 8:42 AM, timed to coincide with BART train arrivals. These vehicles buses will have 'Gilbert Club' signs in the windows. The bus stop is in front of the Bank of America, on the north-east corner of Shattuck and Center. To get there from the BART station escalator exit you'll need to cross both Shattuck (the main street) and Center streets.
2) By car:
Take the University Avenue exit off
I-80 (which is also I-580). If you're coming from San Francisco, take the
Bay Bridge, keep to the left to get on I-80 east (same as I-580 west, go
figure...). Proceed east on University Ave. about 2 miles until it ends at
Oxford Street, the west campus entrance. Do NOT enter campus but turn left
on Oxford and then take the first right onto Hearst Avenue, which runs along
the north perimeter of campus. The second stop light will be Gayley Road,
turn right. Turn left at the first stop sign onto Stadium Rimway. Turn left
at the next stop sign onto Centennial Drive. Climb the hill about 1 mile,
LHS will be on your left, parking on both your right and left. Parking costs
$4.00 for the day. You need to pay at machines, which are scattered about
the parking lots. Make sure to note the number of your parking stall before
leaving your car; the machines will ask for your parking stall number. You
will receive a receipt at the machine, but you do NOT need to return to your
car to display the receipt.
