I�d like to show you some preliminary data that we have and then I�ll spend the rest of the talk exploring some calculations in an attempt to make sense of the data.
We�re just starting to look at some samples along the San Gabriel Fault, an exhumed fault believed to be an ancient and abandoned trace of the San Andreas. The locations we have investigated were probably at a depth of about 2.5 kilometers while the San Gabriel Fault was active and they�ve since been brought to the surface by uplift and erosion.
