This figure shows how a single temperature pulse lasting 20 minutes will affect the fission track age of a sample. For exampleif the temperature pulse reaches 200 degrees for 20 minutes, the age will be indistinguishable from never having seen an earthquake at all. If the temperature pulse is bigger, say 400 degrees, the age will be completely reset.
