For Presentation/Talk/Tutorial File uploading

Three easy ways for file uploading and sharing:


Upload the file if link exists

  • Please check the Agenda page first, if the Download link is already present and is red in color, then you can process to upload the file by clicking the link.
  • Important: make sure the default file extensions in the link are correct. If the file to be uploaded has different extension (e.g.: doc vs. docx; ppt vs. pptx etc.), change the extension in the page. (click "[edit]" on the upper right, make the changes and then "Save page"; see the example below.


  • There are some old links (http://deep-earth.org) as the place holder, please do change them to appropriate ones.

Upload the file and Admin will create the link

  • For Talks/Tutorial files: click here and then "Browse..." the file and then upload. Send an Email so the files can be correctly linked to Agenda.

DIY following the example below

  • Or you can create a File upload link yourself following this example:
    • first go to the page, (e.g.

http://www.deep-earth.org/wiki_cider/2012_Summer_Program_Agenda#Tuesday.2C_July_17th),

File upload location

    • click "edit" to the upper right(login is needed), which should bring up a window with markup

    • the line [[media:Impacts.sara.stewart.docx |Download handout]] shows the markup used for the example file uploading. Make sure the file extension matches with the file to be uploaded.
    • click "Save page" to the lower left, then you will see the file upload link. If the link shows up in read, click "handout" to go to the uploading page where you can browser and upload file

Private file upload on individual user page

  • For private documents, after login, please go to your user page (click here) , create if blank, and then use the following simple wiki markup to edit the page:


1. This file is about xxx [[media:file1.pdf]]
2. This file is about yyy [[media:file2.ppt]]
...

After saving the page, click the file links to upload files. Make sure the file extension matches.
